a candidate ROOTED IN COMMUNITY

Multi-Generation Coastsider

As a multi-generational and lifelong Coastsider, my roots run deep in Half Moon Bay. I have watched our community grow, adapt, and face challenges while preserving the character, traditions, and spirit that make our town special. I am running to protect what we love about Half Moon Bay while supporting thoughtful solutions for today and the future.

My family has lived, worked, and contributed here for generations, giving me a deep respect for our history and a strong commitment to the people who call the Coastside home. I believe we can move forward together by listening, collaborating across generations, and making decisions that reflect residents’ values.

Susie Morasci's Campaign priorities

Building The Future of Half Moon Bay - Together.

I did not make the decision to run for City Council lightly. I thought carefully about what matters most to my family, friends, neighbors, and the people who call the Coastside home. I asked myself a simple question: “Can I help?” The answer was clear: yes, I can. I can listen. I can be a strong voice for the community I grew up in and love so deeply. And I can work side by side with residents, city leaders, and community partners to move Half Moon Bay forward with purpose and action.

Serving the Coastside

Susie has volunteered, coached, and served Half Moon Bay in the following ways.

Susie’s lifelong involvement in team sports—from summer softball at Smith Field to basketball and volleyball at Half Moon Bay High School and beyond—shaped her appreciation for teamwork, relationships, problem-solving, and shared goals. Which led to coaching girls’ and boys’ volleyball from elementary school kids through college students, strengthening the communication, mentoring, and leadership skills that continue to guide her community work.

COACHING

Susie is deeply involved in the Portuguese community of the Coastside. She served for six years as an officer and board member of the IDES Society of Half Moon Bay, beginning during the pandemic. Susie was only the second woman officer at the IDES in the 155 plus year existence, helping pave the way for more women to become officers During her time as an officer and director, the organization experienced some of its strongest financial years and added programs and events that helped attract new membership and renewed interest locally.

MEL MELLO FARM DAY LUNCHEON

CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON FOR SENIORS

Susie also serves on the Mel Mello Farm Day Luncheon Committee, which celebrates agriculture, community service, and the hardworking people who help feed and sustain the Coastside.

Susie is on the committee for the annual Christmas Day Luncheon for Coastside seniors. The event welcomes seniors who may not otherwise have a place to gather for the holiday and has become a meaningful Coastside tradition that brings people together.

HMB BEAUTIFICATION

Susie became a board member and executive officer of the Half Moon Bay Beautification Committee in 2022. Long before joining the board, she volunteered at the annual Pumpkin Festival with one of the many local nonprofits the festival supports. Her work with HMBBC continues to help bring funding to local nonprofits and restore the hanging flower baskets that brighten historic Main Street.
